Types of our Swedish language courses

1. General Swedish language course

This type of course is available from beginner (or any other level depending on pre-knowledge) to C1 level. In accordance with the language levels determined within the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), during the general Swedish language courses, our instructors focus on continuously developing the four language skills: speaking and writing skills, listening and reading comprehension, in addition to teaching and practicing vocabulary and grammar related to each language level.

During the lessons, we put a lot of emphasis on ensuring that all the participants get the opportunity to speak a lot by engaging them in various dialogues, language games, discussions and by asking them to give talks on a variety of topics. We pay special attention to each participant’s language development, and we provide everyone with adequate support so that they can make good progress in their studies.

2. General Swedish language course with additional medical language

This type of course is available from beginner (or any other level depending on pre-knowledge) to C1 level. In addition to teaching the vocabulary related to the general Swedish language, grammar and enhancing language skills (speaking, writing, listening and reading comprehension), we also include medical language right from the foundation stage. At levels A and B, we focus on the professional language skills that everyone employed in healthcare needs. We deal with the organ system, the vocabulary related to common illnesses as well as doctor-patient (or other medical personnel-patient) dialogues etc. At level C, the Swedish healthcare language training is supplemented by learning expressions, creating dialogues, doing reading activities and practicing medical text writing related to the participant’s individual field of expertise, so that everyone can start their work in the Swedish healthcare system with the required knowledge of the language.

This course includes four level exams at levels A1, A2, B1, B2 and the final exam at C1 level extended with medical terminology.

Our internal CEFR C1 level examination certificate which concludes this training is approved by the Swedish Socialstyrelsen during the endorsement procedure as a document certifying the required language level.

3. General language training supplemented by professional language

This type of course is available from beginner to C1 level (or any other level depending on pre-knowledge). In this type of course, we provide the general Swedish language training supplemented by the professional terminology and language skills necessary for the participants, according to their type of occupation. In these courses, starting from level B, the professional elements are increasingly emphasized, in addition to general language development (vocabulary, grammar, speaking and writing skills, listening and reading comprehension).

4. Supplementary professional language course

This type of course is available from B1 to C1 level. If a language learner has sufficient general Swedish language skills already, but would like to progress by learning new vocabulary related to his or her field of expertise, and by learning their appropriate use, we will tailor the additional professional language training with maximum consideration to the participant’s individual needs.

We offer supplementary medical language courses, and other professional language courses in the fields of economics, environment protection, the hospitality industry, etc.

Our rapid course structure – only for individual course and for fast language learners

This training type combines the traditional way of teaching in a language course with students learning on their own. With this approach, new material is taught and practiced in a concentrated way and at a fast pace. On top of this, the participants get a lot of individual tasks on which they report back during the lessons and discuss any questions they might have. The rapid courses are completely personalized for the participants.

We recommend this teaching type for those who have a lot of free time that they can spend learning Swedish individually after attending the lessons.

With the individual rapid course, the number of lessons scheduled in the basic course structures can be reduced. This enables you to reduce the number of lessons you need by up to 30% during the complete course from beginner to C1 level.

About the level exams

After reaching the different language levels (A1, A2, B1, B2, C1), we offer the possibility for our students to check their progress by taking an internal level exam, which gives a reliable indication of the participants’ knowledge.

The internal level exams consist of a written and an oral part. The oral exam takes place before an examination board. The written exam consists of the following parts:

  • Writing skills
  • Reading comprehension
  • Listening comprehension
  • Grammar and vocabulary test

Following a successful internal level exam, the participants can continue learning Swedish by enrolling in the first unit of the next level.

After each internal exam, upon request we can issue a certificate verifying the learner’s achievement. After reaching the C1 level, we automatically issue a certificate for our students.

Intensity of the courses

The Swedish language courses at our school are available on weekdays between 7 am and 8 pm CET.

A limited number of lessons can be held at weekends.

If you have a full-time job or study at high school or university, we recommend that you take 2-9 lessons a week.

Examples of weekly schedules that you can choose from:

  • 1×2 lessons
  • 2×2 lessons
  • 3×2 lessons
  • 4×2 lessons
  • 1×3 lessons
  • 2×3 lessons
  • 3×3 lessons
  • 1×4 lessons
  • 2×4 lessons

If you would like to participate in an intensive course and you do not study at an educational institution or work full time, we recommend that you take 10-25 lessons per week.

Within this framework, you can decide if you prefer to have 2, 3, 4 or 5 lessons a day.

Start dates for the courses

1.  Individual course

In case of individual course, our Swedish language courses start within ten days of enrolment.

2.  Tuition in small groups

2.1 If a group of friends or family members enrol together

If you apply with your friends or family members, we will organize a separate group for you so that you can study together. In this case, the courses can start within ten days of enrolment.

2.2 Enrolment for tuition in small groups

If you would like to learn Swedish in a small group, the course will start when we have enough applicants who are at the same level as you and who want to study on the same days and in the same time slots as you.

Our language school offers courses starting at any time throughout the year.

We prepare a course plan, including the number of lessons per week and we schedule the lessons according to the time slots when the participants are available.

Mediating language

At lower language levels, our teachers can use a mediating language during the lessons to make teaching more effective, for example when explaining grammatical rules or the meaning of a word.

You can specify if you want to take the course using only Swedish or if you prefer that we use a mediating language.

You can choose the following mediating languages: English, German, Spanish, Hungarian, Croatian, Dutch.

Assessment of prior Swedish knowledge

If you are not a total beginner in Swedish, you will be asked to take a placement test so that we can evaluate the level of your previously acquired knowledge. You can take the placement test at a time previously arranged with us.

The placement test consists of a written and an oral part. We assess the four language skills (speaking, writing, reading and listening comprehension) as well as your knowledge of vocabulary and grammar.

After evaluating the placement test, we will recommend a language training which is best suited to your current level. We also determine the number of necessary language modules you will need to complete in order to achieve your goals. For the fee of the assessment test see
